Interpretation of NYC example

Over two-thirds of New York City’s housing stock was built before 1960. Only about 10 percent of the housing stock was built since 2000.

How to construct

This data is downloaded from American Fact Finder. Specifically, data is obtained for both New York City and the U.S. from TABLE B25034 YEAR STRUCTURE BUILT for the one-year ACS estimates for 2016.

Figure notes

Data are shown for one area only (New York City in this case). Each column is the number of units built in the year range. The different age ranges can be combined as preferred.
